From words to water
Having worked in the publishing industry for 35 years, I made a hard left turn in my third act (as Jane Fonda calls life after 50), to become an aquatic fitness professional.
After graduating with an English degree from Texas A&M University, my first job in publishing was at a national publication, Power Boating Canada magazine, and I fell in love with magazines. I worked at the London Free Press as Special Sections editor for 10 years and ended my stint as the editor at Lifestyle Magazine after 10 years there.
As a freelancer, I write about travel and wellness. My stories have appeared in Sun and National Post publications across Canada, AmeriKidz, Canadian Gardening, Boomer Magazine, Texas Highways and many others.
You never fall out of love with your first passion, so I still love writing, editing and communication coaching – helping entrepreneurs solidify their branding language to attract ideal clients and customers, but now I work with clients to ensure they enjoy the best, most-fun-ever workouts.
I am a certified shallow and deep-water instructor through WaterArt.org, a certifying body recognized in Canada and the U.S.
I have had both of my hips replaced and my knees need to be replaced, so understand the journey that many of my clients are on to maximize wellness and activity.
I have loved the water since my dad threw me into a pool at six months old.
I was a competitive swimmer, SCUBA diver and snorkeler and still swim laps. (But you don’t have to swim to be able to work out in the water.)
I stumbled into aquafit when I was 30 and needed to ‘lose the baby weight’ after having my second son and have loved it for 30 years.
My mission is to help you to be confident and energetic to enjoy your life now and for years into the future by working with you to improve your fitness level, so you’re strong, flexible, balanced and have endurance, while having fun and being safe.
