If you had asked me back in January or February 2020 what I thought the start of my term as President of BPW London would look like, I would have never imagined the state of the world when my presidency started in early June. Between the coronavirus pandemic; invasion of "murder hornets;" substantial protests as people fight against racism, discrimination and brutalities no one should be subject to; it is clear these are unique and powerful times. Change is happening everywhere.
My message for all of my sisters at this time and going forward, whether you are a current member of BPW or not, is this - you are not alone. Reach out and connect. The relationships that have been developed through BPW are boundless and I know that I speak for all members when I say that we will do all we can to support and help each other. If you are not a current member of BPW but are looking to get involved in an organization that offers an opportunity to create change, provide support for one another and build a network of amazing women, please reach out and attend one of our meetings!
BPW is not only a local organization in London, Ontario but it is also based on the Provincial, National and International levels. It is BPW's mission to "develop the business, professional and leadership potential of women on all levels through advocacy, education, mentoring, networking, skill-building, and economic empowerment programs and projects around the world."
In 2020 BPW London will celebrate their 75th year! As a result of the hurdles we are being forced to face, this is an exciting time for us and will be a year filled with discovery, growth, development, opportunities, laughter and memories. Challenges push us to grow and adapt, and they move us one step closer to becoming the people we were meant to be. We look forward to having you join us on this journey.
